The GMB news ticker is a vital part of the show’s on-air identity — but no off-the-shelf solution could meet the bespoke demands of our format. For a long time, a converted CG template and Python script kept things ticking over, but it was fragile and far from ideal.

I rebuilt the system from the ground up using modern HTML5 methods, with help from Vibe Coding and AI-driven tools. The result is a fully flexible, purpose-built ticker tailored specifically to GMB’s needs — with final on-air delivery running smoothly through HTML5 backend and renderer via CasparCG over SDI.
